Baby Shower and Getting Well

As some of you may know, I have been quite ill for several weeks.
I was down with a fever, aches, chills, sore throat, and headache. Thankfully, I am now on the mend and can finally get back to my normal routine of life! It feels good to be up and about again and able to do my regular house work of dishes, vacuuming, laundry, etc. Though I still tire easily, I will be heading back to work tomorrow and am greatly looking forward to it!
Sister LaKaysha is now down with the same virus and it sure isn't fun! Waiting until we can all be well.

My gal Kaysha planned a baby shower for her big sister Shanoah. I was supposed to be helping her out but due to catching a bug, I am afraid I wasn't as much of a help as she needed! I did make it down Saturday morning and helped get decorations made though.
We had a little miss hap when we got to where the shower was supposed to take place and that was a slight moment of panic. We scheduled to have the baby shower at a local tea house but when we showed up just thirty minutes before guests were to arrive to decorate, we found the tea house locked and deserted!
Thankfully, we were able to get ahold of the owner and although we rushed around quickly while guests stared on (and some helping! Thank you!) we were able to throw around decorations and pretend we knew what we were doing!

So excited to meet the new baby girl in April (or so)!

This year has been full of many "firsts" for me. First time planning a bridal shower. First time being a bridesmaid. First time helping behind the scenes of a wedding. First time planning a baby shower.
It's amazing how quickly life can change and how quickly you can adjust.
Soon I will no longer be a "teenager". Goodness, I wonder what new things will be coming in the days ahead?

Cornmeal Pancakes

Cornmeal Pancakes

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cornmeal
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. buttermilk (or just add some vinegar to regular milk)
2 eggs, beaten
3 T. butter, melted

Sift together dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs, and butter. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Fry on a lightly greased griddle.

Serve with your favorite pancake toppings! I like mine with home-made berry syrup.
It's not too sweet for my not-very-sweet tooth!
