A Hike and a View

Last Sunday I checked the 7-Day Forecast and seen the following Saturday was to be sunny.

"Let's go hiking!"

I love hiking and getting into the hills, and don't do it near often enough. Most of the time it is me that "get's the ball rolling" gathering and asking if people want to go. Not very often does it happen.
But this Saturday, we went!

The cousins were out of town so they were not able to join. But, we still had a large group of us. My entire family, Grandpa, two Aunts, and four married cousins. And don't forget sweet Baby Noelle!

For me, I hike to just be out in nature. To breathe and be still. Emotionally, not physically. *wink*
Not everyone could make it to the "top", and I don't blame them! If you are not used to it, it can be quite the climb.
Even my own legs are upset with me! Which I just say means we need to go more often! This trail is nearby and I think I would be comfortable going with just a few of us even. Maybe we'll have to do that.

The Bridge on the main trail

The water was a pretty turquoise color.

Onto the trail we go!

Isn't it just beautiful? Worth every ache.

The mountain blended into the sky, but in real life she was much more clear!
This is just at a section of the trail. What we call "the top" is now over grown and you are unable to see anything!

"The mountains are calling, and I must go." - John Muir
Thank you all who joined me! It made my entire day.

Shall we go again? Say... tomorrow?

ISFJ-Me

Have you ever read something that just says, "Wow. That's me."? I have! In the recent years a group of us had fun taking quizzes and discovering what "personality type" we are. Apparently I am a:

I - Introverted
S- Sensitive
F - Feeling
J - Judging

The test I took stated I am 89% introverted, 56% observant, 86% feeling, and 79% judging.
Here are just some fun quotes and facts people say go for this personality type.

I really do. I need to see how something is done, rather than read about it.

So I am told that I have this problem a lot. *winks* But honestly, I always think, what reason do I have to say no? And most of the time it's just because I am selfish.

I do thrive on positive words. If I feel someone is slightly hinting I am
not good enough, or didn't do the just exactly right, I begin to feel guilty.

Now I can't say I think I do, but I have been told this fact all my life!

Yes. I'd rather leave the room, or change the subject, then
discuss anything conflicting between people.

So... yes. I do this. Much to the dislike of my Mother. *wink*
Very true.
Oh my, how many times have I done this?
This is true. I do love hugs, but I struggle allowing myself the accept them.

What do you think? Do these remind you of me?

The 10 Random Questions Tag

I was tagged by Marissa at Hidden Treasures for:

The 10 Random Questions Tag!
Here it goes.
#1 What Is Your Favorite Snack Food?
Oh, don't get me started on my favorite snacks! Most of these I can no longer eat with my braces, but before I got them? My auntie tells me I have the strangest taste buds, ever.
- Ritz crackers with melted cheese and yellow mustard
- Kettle Cooked Jalapeno Chips and Dijon mustard
- Potato chips and yellow mustard
- Makkara and stone ground mustard/Dijon mustard
*Mm... have you noticed I like mustard?*
- A glass of milk goes well with them all!
- And last (but definetly not least) I love apples and cheese.

#2 Who Is Your Favorite Author and Why?
Louis L'Amour! You must ask why?
He writes so beautifully. His books could be called poetry. You can taste. You can see. You can smell. You can feel everything the character is.
I love the western days, which is what almost all his books take place in. The mystery and excitement. Not to mention the life lessons he can teach you with just a simple story.

#3 If you had to change your first name, what would it be?
Honestly... I don't think I would ever want to change my name? I really like it.

#4 What Is Your First Memory?
I'm not sure. I think it may be watching my Great-Grandma and Grandma laugh together over the "can't find my heartbeat" incident?

#5 What Is Something You're Passionate About?
The role of a Christian woman in this world.
And being healthy and active! Don't get me started on that.

#6 If you were to move from where you live, where would it be?
New Hampshire or somewhere with beautiful mountains. Like Idaho.

#7 What is your dream vacation?
A road trip to visit ghost and western towns across America!

#8 Where Is Your Favorite Hangout Place ?
Uh.... I don't really hang out? *wink*
Probably my Grandpa's. I enjoy going out to coffee at Shari's too!

#9 Favorite style of music?
Hands down, country. Oldies.
I think I usually prefer the singers and songs from the 60's and 70's? But I enjoy some 80's and 90's too!
I actually listen to a wide variety of styles. But 60's country is my favorite.
No one, and  I mean no one, can sing like George Jones.

#10 Do you read more than one book at a time?
Very rarely! I have a hard enough time concentrating on one book these days. *wink*

I suppose I won't tag anyone by name this time! If you haven't been already, I tag you.
Your questions are:

#1 What Is Your Favorite Snack Food?
#2 Who Is Your Favorite Author and Why?
#3 What is your favorite color, and why?
#4 What is your nickname?
#5 What Is Something You're Passionate About?
#6 If you were to move from where you live, where would it be?
#7 What is your dream vacation?

Snow Bound

I look forward to the winter months each year.

Snow covered grounds and crisp cold air.
And let me tell you, it has been cold. The past few days have been warmer, but last week? Brr...

This year we have gotten more snow than we have in many years. Well, more like, we have had snow stick around for a longer period of time. It isn't much on the ground but it has stayed.

At first, I was excited to have snow. But, now...

In the past three weeks I have left the house maybe four times. I don't like driving on the snow and ice, and so I stick close to home.
I have to say though,

I'm starting to feel cabin fever.

Or, more like I have it. Full force!

Due to the weather and Christmas, we have not been to church three Sunday's in a row! Church services and work are the only places I go each week. It feels so good to get out of the house and see different people.
I'll take cold weather any day but, how about cold and clear, please?

2017 and Braces

Happy 2017  blog world!

It is hard to believe that 2016 is gone and a new year has begun. I'm telling you, the older you get, the faster a hour goes by.

On December 21st, I had my braces put on. That was one uncomfortable hour. But! I survived it.
The first week was the hardest. My jaw hurt and my bottom teeth ached. I couldn't even chew a tiny piece of bread. *cringe* My meals (which I dreaded) consisted of mashed potatoes and canned soup.
When I'm hungry, life is tough. And I was h-u-n-g-r-y.
Still, I reminded myself (and my family reminded me) that "this too shall pass", and "just one more day" would ease the pain even more.
It has been almost three weeks and I can once again chew! Nothing hard or crunchy (I miss my chips!) but I can eat my salad and eggs again! *happy dance*
I do have a problem with cutting my lips on the wire while I sleep. At the moment the inside of my lip is hot and burns. I've been putting salt water on them though, covering the wire in wax, and they are healing!
Slowly but surely.

Slowly but surely.
